Here’s a helpful tip.

Before buying any Computer Hardware or Software - either from the web or
from a brick-and-mortar store - just imagine for a second that, horror of
horrors, something might go wrong or not work. This does happen - frequently
- with both well known and lesser known software and hardware companies.

After you’ve resisted the impulse to immediately purchase that new piece of
computer hardware or software just make a note of the vendor’s website
address and/or the technical support phone number. Then, give ‘em a call or,
click the support button on the website and see if it has a convenient phone
number to call right there on the support or contact us page.

Here is a truism: Computer problems are more quickly resolved when there is
phone contact involved. So, if you have a problem and you can’t find a
resolution after 6 minutes googling or writing an email to the vendor and
waiting for a response then, picking up the phone, if not your first option
then, at least, should be an option!

So, try it out. Call the Vendor of the software or hardware product you are
thinking of buying and see if a) they have a number for you or, b) the
number lets you talk to a real live person or c) whether you’re just going
to be left high-and-dry or d) there are not enough buttons from 1 to 9 for
all of the vendors options after sales, marketing, reception, accounts etc..
In fact sometimes a number for everything except technical support.

Try this same technique with your ISP and see what happens. Try this on
weekends and try this after normal business hours your time and during
normal business hours your time. After all, it’s not unreasonable for you to
be at home after dinner, installing Quicken or QuickBooks on your computer
and suddenly, for example, it doesn’t print! Wouldn’t it be nice to be able
to call 1-800-QuickBooks support or Intuit Support and speak to someone, in
your own language, who is patient and helpful enough to resolve your issue?

Remember if you are not technically inclined then a support contract that
gives you free phone calls and service is a good idea. If you are
technically inclined then free phone calls and service is a good idea!

Be very very wary of the sites that make a phone number hard to find or,
even worse, that do not have on posted e.g. try looking here for a technical
support phone number: http://www.j-moves.com - non-existent right! Or, try
this Software site for a support number -
http://websunlimited.com/wumain/support.asp !!

Do you know who always answers phones for a computer 24/7 and knows what
they are talking about. If not then your reliable HP computer probably
hasn’t gone wrong but, try calling 1-800-okcompaq and see how that works.
Another couple of hardware vendors who do well are both D-Link and Linksys.

Anyways, at the end of the day/week/month/year/decade it’s your time and, as
you get older it gets more valuable. So, when you want to buy some new
computer hardware or software take the time, up-front, to phone for
tech-support just to see how much of your valuable time will be wasted or
not if and when something “comes up”.

Happy Computing!

.

Building a Web site and making money via online advertising is touted,
marketed, offered, suggested and recommended with the AdSense system run by
the global search giant. Contextual or content-sensitive online advertising
is on the rise. Last year, Google says, it shelled out $3.1 billion to
Adsense publishers…. Read more of this story Work at Home: Google for
Dollars at this link here:
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/TurningPoints/story?id=3777660&page=1

Making money with AdSense - Google’s or others’ - requires some vision,
research and planning. In fact, in spite of the abounding and astounding
claims about how “easy” this can be - it’s not! Come to think of it, it’s
just like making money in any business - you need to find your niche, do the
research and planning and beat out the competition.

One of the many “bottom lines” on making money with Google’s AdSense is that
you have to find out both:

What the “High Paying Keywords” are that people pay Google to Advertise for
them or,
What the “High Paying Keywords” are that Google pays you to advertise for
them (Google).

For example, if I want to sell my EBook and advertise “Animal Obedience
Training” with Yahoo, MSN, Live, Overture, Google or any of the other online
advertisers, they will charge me money when somebody CLICKS on those
displayed advertisements.

Let’s say they charge me $1.00 whenever anyone “clicks” on my ad for “Animal
Obedience Training” or “Tramadol Online” or “Financial Services” or “Second
Mortgage Broker” or “Affordable Life Insurance” or whatever it is I am
selling online.

So, (unlike Dex or Newspaper or Classified advertisers) Online Advertisers
charge me nothing to display my ads everywhere online but, they do charge me
when somebody “clicks” on my ad Going back to my example, you click on my ad
and I owe MSN Live, or Yahoo, or Google - $1.00

Now, Let’s say you have a Website selling - “Squeaky Dog Toys” and you join
up to Google’s AdSense program and my ad for “Animal Obedience Training” is
displayed, along with 4 or 5 others - on your Website. Then, when someone
goes to your “Squeaky Dog Toys” Website AND “CLICKS” on the Google Ad for
“Animal Obedience Training” you will earn a credit with Google! - Easy as
that!!!

Some truths of the matter are:
1)… Google might only pay you 1 cent for that click
2)… People looking for “Squeaky Dog Toys” are not likely to click on
“Animal Obedience Training” ads. That’s not what they’re looking for!
3)… You don’t want my ad for “Squeaky Dog Toys” on your site because then
they might by from me rather than you!!!

For a quick look at what some top paying Adwords (Keywords) are from another
AdSense site, check out the following link.

http://7search.com/scripts/searchterms/top_paying.asp?n=100

Another very real, tangible and measurable “bottom line” that our clients
communicate to us time and time again is:

“How do I set this up on my website”
“How do I get this to work for me”
“How do I get started with Google’s AdSense”
“How do I make my own Website”

This blog post is not for “Web Savvy” Users. This blog post is not for
people who have put more than 100 hours into their Website Advertising
research. This Post is for people who need help starting off on their plan
to build a profitable website and make a few dollars with the help of
Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and some of the other major players’ online
advertising programs.

Has anyone been having any problems with their Forwarded Domains hosted at GoDaddy
lately? Specifically, Domains hosted at GoDaddy that for years have been
forwarding successfully to other Domains hosted at GoDaddy are no longer
working correctly?

For Example, Domain A is my hosted and content-rich domain. Domain B is
“forwarded” with “masking” to Domain A. Both Domains are registered with
GoDaddy.

Domain B has been set on forwarding with masking for about 18 months and
suddenly decided it didn’t want to forward to Domain A anymore. Instead it give a 301 Error Page of Access Denied.

Within the last week or so my Domain B, forwarded with masking to Domain A
is bringing up a 301 error page - access not allowed - or something.

GoDaddy Tech Support are not helpful in resolving the issue and after
holding on the phone for a while waiting for junior GoDaddy technical support to run down
the hallway and speak to GoDaddy senior level DNS support the response I got
was “….well your Domain A doesn’t like being framed and so take off the
masking on the forwarded domain…”

Well, nothing had changed in Domain A that would suddenly object to it being
framed so… what to do, what to do.

Has anyone else noticed recently any forwarding or masked domain forwarding
errors or problems or misbehavior coming from their forwarded Domains hosted and or registered at GoDaddy.com?

Thanks.

.

How to Reclaim all of your Bandwidth from Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Hold Down your Windows Key and Hit the Letter “R” and type in “Gpedit.msc” or,

Click START
Run, and then type in

This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:

Local Computer Policy
Computer Configuration
Administrative Templates
Network
QOS Packet
Scheduler
Limit Reservable Bandwidth

Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not
configured, but if you look under the ‘Explain’ tab you will see the “Full
Story”

“By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the
bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the
default.”

So, just go ahead and ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This
will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

If you’re running XP Home or Vista Home editions, then you don’t have the
Group Policy Editor. If this is the case:

Open Control Panel
Open Network Connections
Right Click and
Choose “Properties” (or Double Click) on your active connection.
Uncheck “QOS packet scheduler”.

This achieves the same Internet Boost for Windows XP Home and Windows Vista
Home versions!

Hope that Helps!

mature, effective and easy to use anti-spyware program. It takes a couple of
minutes to download and install and I had no complaints or moans or
incompatibility warnings from Windows Defender or Symantec’s Anti-Virus.
SpyEraser asked me if I wanted to do a scan and….I said Yes!

The scan was quick and thorough and, without reading the documentation or
help files, I was able to permanently delete bad cookies, ignore the version
of snoop.exe that’s on my system and go back to change an option from ignore
once to ignore always before making all the changes permanent.

In short, UniBlue’s SpyEraser let me make changes at every step along the
path and even let me go back and make some final “fine-tuning” changes
before sending all my bad cookies off to never never land - and never
warning me about my own personal “good” programs ever again.

I have the option to run it in the TaskBar - or not - and to Schedule Scans when
I see fit. It also automatically updates and again, is polite enough to ask
me if that’s what I want it to do right now. It has options to plug-in other
UniBlue Utility Software such as SpeedUpMyPC and PowerSuite - all in to one
easy to use, set-up and configure interface.

UniBlue has done a great job and put some serious work into this, the
latest version of their SpyEraser Software.

Download it here. It’s fast. It’s a Winner.

Every time Firefox Updates herself and I attempt to open a link from within
an Outlook email I get an error message where the dialog says:
“Windows cannot find URL to Path or File“. However Firefox does open the
Page Ok. The error message dialog however is annoying.

To prevent the Firefox dialog error in Outlook URL links from occurring in
Windows Vista, here is the solution:

Click on:

“Start”
“Run” and
Type in REGEDIT
Hit the OK Button

When in your Registry Editor navigate to and then delete the following 4
keys:

(To delete, just highlight/select/click on the ddeexec word/folder and spank
your delete key)

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxHTML\shell\open\ddeexec
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxURL\shell\open\ddeexec
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HTTP\shell\open\ddeexec
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HTTPS\shell\open\ddeexec

That solution will prevent the Firefox error dialog from reoccurring.

When you’ve successfully done that then save this blog as a Firefox Bookmark
and return to it when Firefox requires yet another update with the same bug
requiring the same solution!

Or, Just copy and paste this entire article into your Notepad
(Click on: “Start” “Run” “Notepad” - OK) and save it with an appropriate name to your
Desktop.

Geez, It’s as bad as IE6 and 7 not adhering to W3C Standards. Do these
people think that we have nothing better to do with our time than to chase
around looking for solutions to sloppy, arrogant programming errors and/or
oversights?

What do you think?
