Archive for the Internet Explorer Category

As a Certified MCSE and very active Microsoft Network Consultant, I think
the time has come to ditch the Microsoft Internet Explorer as your Default
Internet Browser.

The first reason for this is to be sensitive and kind to all of the talented
people who create all of those fantastic Websites that you Browse. If you
are not aware of this then, I tell you, it takes those Web Designers weeks
and months of additional time and effort to code their pages so that
Internet Explorer can display all of those sites correctly. Truly! This
increases costs all the way down the line and, you know which end of the
line you are on!

The reason for this is that Internet Explorer does not conform to common Web
standards. And, Microsoft, in spite of what they attempt to portray, do not
code Internet Explorer to conform to common Internet Browsing Standards.
This is a HUGE hassle.

When calling Microsoft on this issue the standard response is something like
“…all other Browsers are “stripped down” Browsers….”. This really means
that Microsoft, against the current tide of standard conformity, is
attempting as always, to set the pace. Alas, they have failed! Other
Browsers conform correctly to Web Standards and reveal Web Pages and Sites
as such. And, display a friendly Internet experience for you, the end user.

The second reason to not use Microsoft’s Internet Explorer as your default
Browser is that you are being fed an artificial view of the web world. Not
only is the Microsoft’s Internet Explorer view of the Web world absurdly
incorrect but also it forces too many website coders to waste your time and
money trying to make IE appear as a “normal” child. This is a losing battle
with no winners.

My recommendation to you is to download Firefox as quickly as possible, set
it to import your IE Bookmarks and then set it as your default Browser. You
can always keep Microsoft’s IE Browser for a secondary Browser to access
Microsoft’s waning Websites and other relevant tasks.

As a primary/default Website Browser the time has come to switch to Firefox
immediately and show Microsoft that their continued arrogance towards
disregard for Internet Browsing Standards is to be tolerated no longer…
